I'm not the world's most consistent blogger. But I have a good excuse. Four good excuses. And lately they've kept me hopping. Now that school has started back up, so have all the extra-curricular activities. I love staying busy, but the amount of paperwork my little peeps bring home (homework, permission slips, forms, schedules etc.) could bury us alive. So when I saw this old desk at the thrift store, I couldn't pass it, and the potential organization it would bring, up.
So I hauled it out back, primed it, then gave it the Dusty Spruce treatment (same brush on paint I used for the chalk board, with antiquing glaze). Now each of our school age children has their own drawer for homework, reading charts, soccer & dance schedules, book orders etc.
And we already had this chair waiting patiently in the makeover queue.
Added a little embellishment to the back of the chair just to spice things up, and new fabric on the seat.
And just so you don't think I only play with the blues, let me introduce to you to my new friend "Olive". I'm just getting to know her, but she's a favorite already. Together we're gonna paint the town...or at least the master bedroom furniture.
More to come...someday. I'm not committing to anything until soccer season's over.

The desk is Valspar Signature Seaside Retreat " Dusty Spruce"
The dresser is Valspar Signature Laura Ashley "Olive 4"
That is WONDERFUL! I have a desk just like that from my childhood! It's still back HOME. I guess I better call Dad and see if I can have it! Who knows maybe thats my desk from my childhood! ha ha
ReplyDeleteThe blue looks GREAT!
The blue is Fantabulous♥ but I'm also digging the green! Can't wait to see what you do next.
ReplyDeleteI'm Celebrating my 1 Year Anniversay on Etsy with a GIVEAWAY on my Blog. I would L♥VE it if you stopped in to check it out!
I was simply blown away at out wonderful this desk and chair turned out! It is even better seeing it in person than the gorgeous pictures on your blog. Well done! I loved it and even had some envy going on... want to help me?
ReplyDeleteYou new 'Olive' looks sensational in your room.
Loooooooove it! Did you spray paint the handles or remove the old paint and if you removed the old paint, how did you go about doing it? I have a dresser in a similar style with the exact same handles waiting for my attention. The chair couldn't be any more perfect!
ReplyDeleteLove the olive. Let me guess, spray paint right?
ReplyDeleteLove them! Would you mind sharing paint colors/brands? Again, LOVE them! Thanks for sharing! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm doing a trash to treasure project myself now, for the baby's nursery. An old dresser and nightstand I'm turning into a changing table and storage bin/seat. You have inspired me to try antiquing glaze... I may need to call you and get some tips before I get to that stage. I love your stuff!
