A Toile Tale

Actually, it is a tale of 2 chairs. My mother-in-law happened upon two unusual chairs in need of a home. Knowing my love for quirky colors as well as all things old, she surprised me with them the other day. We must have had an E.S.P. thing going on, because I had been searching the on-line classifieds for a couple of cheap chairs (with character) that I could paint fun colors and use in my sewing/craft room. Did she ever nail it! I LOVE these chairs. The cushion fabric, not so much...

It just so happens that I found a yard of pink & green toile decorator fabric at Hancock’s a few days earlier for only $3.00. Such a good deal, I couldn’t pass it up. I also fell in love with this cute hot pink Sun Drop fabric at Material Girls. Only problem is I only have ¼ yard of this. Which should I use? Or, I guess the real question is, should I frivolously spend more money on additional yardage of the hot pink fabric (which I am thinking is pretty darn cute), or should I be frugal and go with the toile that I already have (and like)? My judgement is cloudy due to my weakness for (make that addiction to) buying fabric. Decisions, decisions...

So what do you think? Either way, I am sure I will LOVE them!

  1. oH, this post is SO inspiring!! I have 2 chairs that are the most awecome bluey/green and the seat is hideous. So, I'm going to watch and see what you do and then repeat that for myself. :) I need constant encouragement. You have 2 excellent choices for seats....but yeah....that bottom one wins it for me. is that the one that you have to go buy more for?? I really want to encourage you to use what you have........because I want you to encourage ME to use what I have. But I probably won't so you shouldn't either. :) Then I'll feel better about myself.

  2. I think we have another trip to the Material Girls calling our name! I agree that the Sun Drop fabric is absolutely darling on the chairs. The kids love to eat Ramen Noodles and Mac and Cheese and would think it was a treat to eat it the rest of the month... Lets go shop! I just might buy some this time.....They have so many darling fabrics in... hmmm

  3. What did you decide? LOVE the chairs. I haven't been in your house forever, but I am picturing it with all of your amazing, vintage-y stuff and I know it is gorgeous. I would probably just covet everything you have so I'm sure it's better for me to not actually see it. :)

  4. OK, I love both fabrics but the tiole is my favorite. It's timeless.Plus, why spend money when you can be happy with out doing so?
Love the chairs. I just found an old one that's going to be similar in color. I'll have to blog it so you can see.

  8. I don't know if you've made your decision yet but my favorite is the one with the birds. Hands down.

The others are beautiful fabrics but that one looks like it was made to go with the chair color.
